Step-By-Step Guide
Step 01: Measure Your Stoma
Step 01: Measure Your Stoma
Place the washable sizing card flat against your skin, directly over your stoma. The card features a range of openings from 2mm to 62mm. Find the opening that fits snugly around your stoma without being too tight. A proper measurement is the most important step for a comfortable, leak free fit. We recommend measuring regularly as stoma size can change over time, particularly in the months following surgery.
Step 02: Position Your Barrier
Step 02: Position Your Barrier
Place your ostomy skin barrier face down into the CleanCut™ device, centered over the cutting mechanism. The device is designed to hold the barrier securely in place while you cut, so no additional grip or pressure is needed.
Step 03: Select Your Size
Step 03: Select Your Size
Once you have identified your size on the sizing card, turn the dial on the CleanCut™ device to match that measurement. The dial rotates smoothly and locks into each size increment with a clear, satisfying click. Make sure the indicator on the dial lines up precisely with your chosen size before moving to the next step.
Step 04: Lock and Cut
Step 04: Lock and Cut
Push down firmly on the dial to lock in your selected size and engage the cutting blade. Using the outer knob, rotate the device in a full 360 degree circle. You will feel and hear the blade moving cleanly through the barrier material. One smooth rotation is all it takes.
Step 05: Open and Remove
Step 05: Open and Remove
Open the device and remove your barrier. You will find a perfectly circular cut opening that matches your stoma size exactly. No jagged edges, no guesswork, no wasted supplies. Your barrier is ready to apply.
Tips for Best Results
- Measure your stoma at the same time of day each time, as size can fluctuate slightly throughout the day
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger opening to avoid any pressure on the stoma
- Keep your sizing card clean and dry between uses for the most accurate measurements
- Replace your sizing card if it becomes warped or damaged
- If you are new to ostomy care, ask your nurse or healthcare provider to walk through your first measurement with you
